Rundale

Rundale - a gorgeous palace in the middle of nowhere

Only 65 kilometer from Riga, in the countryside, is the remarkable Rundale Palace. It was designed in the 18th century by Russian court architect Rastrelli, who also designed the famous Winterpalace in St.Petersburg. On our way to Rundale I will introduce you to the history of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, and the original owners of the palace. In a 1,5 hour guided tour we will see the elaborately decorated rooms and halls of the Palace. The Palace has a beautiful French garden with pergolas, an amphitheatre and magnificent rose garden, as well as a café pavilion, where you can enjoy champagne, coffee or tea with a cake or a sandwich. A classical Latvian lunch is offered in the Palace or in the White House (Baltā Māja), which is the old servants house.
